with your portable mp3 player? If you said no, you should really think about it! New in ear headphones are the easiest and best way to improve the sound quality of your music. And the best part is that you don’t have to spend a ton of money. If you’ve been using cheap headphones all this time, you’ll be amazed at how much better your music sounds with a quality pair.

In ear headphones style earbuds come in two main varieties. Regualar and noise canceling in ear headphones. Traditional  earbud headphones are likely what came with your mp3 player. They rest in your ear but don’t actually fit in your ear canal. That is the big difference between the two styles. The in ear headphones style are very similar to earplugs as they go right inside of your ear canal and form a seal. In fact, many of these types of in ear headphones use foam ear tips that are almost exactly like earplugs, just much smaller.

One major benefit of the best in ear headphones are that because of the tight seal in your ear, they block out lot’s of external noise. This is great for studying or for use on airplanes and buses. The secondary benefit is that you are able to listen to your music at a much lower volume level. You may have noticed that when listening to sub par earbud headphones outside, you really need to raise the volume just to be able to hear the music over all of the noise and traffic. Not good for your ears! The Best In ear headphones allow you to listen to your music at a safer volume level even in noisy surroundings.

By just replacing the stock cheap earbud headphones you have now with an aftermarket pair can make a huge improvement over the ones that came with your player. They are also easy to find in stores and can be very inexpensive.

The best way to try out different earphones is to ask your friends. See if they will let you try out theirs. Another good way to evaluate different headphones is to go online and read some reviews. Amazon.com and other shopping sites have user reviews for all of their products. This way you can read feedback and opinions on different models from people who have actually used them.

When purchasing make sure you ask the store what their return policy is. Some stores may not let you return or exchange in ear headphones because of sanitary reasons. You’ll want to be able to at least make an exchange just in case the ones you buy end up hurting your ears or just don’t fit well for you.

Best Earphones | In Ear Headphones -What You Need to Know

jbuds j4If you have decided to acquire a new set of in ear headphones, you probably already know there are literally hundreds of models available. Our purpose in writing this guide is to help the buyer streamline the decision-making process, and remove some of the confusion often encountered by potential buyers.

There is quite a diversity when it comes to prices of earphones and best earbuds headphones. Replacement earphones are sometimes available for less than five dollars, while audiophile phones can cost several hundreds of dollars. Earbuds and in ear headphones can be bought for as little as $4 to as much as $500 and more for the best in ear headphones.  However a big investment is not necessary to realize a significant  improvement over the original phones that typically come with portable music players.  You can spend as little as $30and get a much better listening experience.

Inexpensive earbuds are great for kids and can be considered disposable and if they are lost or stop working not much is lost.  I would advise against buying a really cheap pair because the build quality generally poor and usually will not work for more than a few days without breaking. In my opinion spending around $30 is the minimum necessary to purchase a serviceable set of in ear headphones. The best way to determine the toughness of a particular set is to read the reviews of owners at a website devoted to offering in ear headphones information and reviews.

Many are looking for best earbuds headphones to use for exercise. What are the best headphones for running? One option is to opt for a set of wireless earbuds headphones so that movement will not be restricted by wires. The disadvantage of wireless earbuds is that it is more complex . Instead of directly piping the music to your in er headphones through wires, the signal has to be transmitted from the source (usually a portable player such as an iPod), and this signal has to be picked up via a receiver integrated into your headphones.  Often if there is not a direct line of sight between the transmitter (the player) and the receiver (in the earphones), the signal is not picked up and delivered to the listener.

A third option and the one I happen to prefer, is to use a micro-player such as an iPod Shuffle, along with great fitting in ear headphones set that will stay in place . The advantage of this system is that the need for a bluetooth transmitter and receiver is eliminated, and since the player weighs only a few ounces, it is really not a bother.

For iPhone use, you will obviously need to restrict your search to in ear headphones with a microphone included. In many cases there will be two versions of an earbud design-one with a microphone and one without. Typically, the models with microphones will have an additional letter as a suffix to the model number such as a “M”.

For many, the primary purpose intended for their headphones is for listening to music, with perhaps occasional use in the phone mode.  However, if your earphones will primarily be used for phone calls, concern yourself with such attributes as microphone clarity, ease of starting and ending calls and adjustments.

For those looking for headphones for the primary purpose of listening to music, in my opinion, there are two primary considerations. The most obvious attribute is that the best earbuds headphones should reproduce the music in a manner that is pleasing and non-fatiguing to the listener. Of course this is a very individual and a matter of individual taste. Different models of headphones are known to cater to different portions of the frequency range. So if you are a base lover, look for a set that is known for representing the base frequencies well. The true audiophile of course seeks accurate sound delivery of all audio frequencies.

A second consideration, and on that is equally important to the listener is comfort. The best sounding phones available are useless if they are not comfortable to use in extended listening sessions. Most headphones will come with a variety of different sized tips for the purpose of obtaining an optimum fit. Since a good seal between the bud tips and ear canal is necessary for proper sound, a tight fit is required. Needless to say if it is too tight the sensation is not pleasant for most users. This is where learning from the collective experience of present owners will aid in evaluating the comfort part of the equation.

Selecting a set of in ear headphones can be a daunting task. The selection process can be simplified by first considering a couple of primary factors. The first step and probably the easiest is to determine your budget limit. For most buyers, the range between $20 and $100 will present plenty of choices. Once your budget is set, determine your anticipated primary use. And finally look for a set of in ear headphones that have a good track record for durability, sound quality and comfort.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

You wouldn’t take your sports car off-roading, neither would you race your pickup truck around an oval against NASCAR drivers. It’s a no brainer…you use the right equipment for the right job.

For recreational audio enjoyment (like listening to music or chatting on your cell phone with friends), there are several different kinds of head phones you can choose from, but just a few that will do the job you want them to do. We’ll look at some of the more common uses for headphones and give some suggestions as to which headphone might be the right one for you.

When you are simply hanging out and relaxing – on your own or with friends – a regular set of headphones is probably appropriate: by regular, we mean ones that are commonly found in music or electronic stores and are fairly affordable. Often these are in the earbuds style, which means they are small speakers that fit into your ear and connect with a cord that either goes over your head in a headband or (more commonly today) are connected under your chin at your neck to your ipod. These are appropriate for casual use because they don’t block out outside sound so that if your friends decide to go to the mall, you won’t be left bopping to the music because you can’t hear them. These are also good if you are out on a bike ride, for example, and want to be able to hear the traffic noise but still enjoy music. These same earphones can be appropriate, with a microphone, for your cell phone.

Audiophiles (which is a phrase derived from Greek to mean lovers of sound) are people with a real passion for music. If that describes you, it probably means that you have a serious sound system at home. You will want headphones that perhaps have their own amplifier and you will definitely want noise canceling headphones. Noise canceling headphones are usually closed back headphones with padding around the side and fit over the entire ear. They use special circuitry and electronics, as well as insulation, to block out exterior noise. Obviously these kind of headphones are only appropriate in a music theater style of home entertain systems. They’re also good if you want to watch a move but have to keep the sound down because other people want it quiet in the house.

Video gaming is increasing in popularity as computer games and game systems compete for you to race or fight villains or play sports on the screen. Headphones are great for this because it not only keeps the game from disturbing those around you, it also allows you to hear elements of the game that could be lost because of background noises or the way your room deadens that sound. (One example is in first person shooter games, where headphones might allow you to hear footsteps coming up behind you).

Remember that your enjoyment of sound is best kept turned slightly down. Don’t turn the music up all the way as permanent hearing loss can result from listening to music too loudly.

Best Headphone… Finding The Right Model

If you like to listen to music, there are probably times when you prefer to listen to music on your own rather than share it with the world (and admittedly, there are times when the world would prefer not to share your music with you!). When you want to keep the sound in your head, you need headphones.

Headphones come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are designed for varying levels of sound quality, convenience, and affordability.

The common headphones that you will likely use for listening to music on a portable CD player or an ipod or your phone are probably best earbuds headphones. These small, circular head phones fit right into your ears. They don’t eliminate outside noise, which makes them appropriate so you can still hear your stop on the subway or listen for oncoming traffic if you’re riding your bike. They are very lightweight and affordable. In fact, most listening devices that offer headphones with them offer best earbuds headphones.

If you are a true audiophile in that you love music – not just the tune but the deep intricacies – you will likely want something a little better. If you are at home, consider using noise canceling circumaural head phones which completely enclose. The ear is surrounded by a comfortable padding and the headphone itself has special wiring to keep exterior sounds out. Although these don’t look very cool when you’re walking around on the street (not to mention that you won’t hear anything but the music with them on), they are perfect if you are trying to create the ultimate home entertainment theatre system (for either music or movies).

If you do want to hear higher quality sound while you’re walking around and listening to your ipod, you may want to consider a headphone called a canalbud. Like an earbud, these go in your ears but they are slightly different. Earbuds usually look like half circles and are essentially speakers that go just on the outer edge of your ear canal. Canalbuds, on the other hand, look more like small tubes and they go inside your ear canal in the same way that ear plugs might go inside your ear canal. The result? More exterior sound is deadened from the outside world and the music you hear has a better sound. The only drawback is that these canalbuds are more expensive than best earbuds headphones to they are really for the serious listener only.

Headphones can really make the difference in your music enjoyment. The best kind of headphones are ones that do block out a fair amount of noise from the outside (even if you don’t get noise canceling headphones). The reason is that the volume has to be turned up louder to compensate for exterior noise and the louder the volume, the greater chance of permanent hearing loss. Instead, spending a little extra and finding headphones that do a good job of blocking out quite a bit of sound will result in enjoying the music more clearly at lower volumes so your hearing will last.

Enjoy your headphones…find ones that suit your needs.

How I Found The Best Ipod Earbuds Ever

All good things must come to an end, and that definitely includes the Apple best earbuds headphones originally packaged with my iPod. Those minimalistic white ‘buds got the job done. Although they never matched my black 30G iPod very well, I was genuinely sorry to see them go. When they bit the dust after I spent a long summer hiking, running, and doing outdoor work, I think I might have actually cried–although it could have been sweat.

Clearly, however, it was time to reload. And I determined that this time around I would not only find best earbuds headphones for my iPod that meshed visually, I would also try and upgrade the sound quality. One problem: I had no money. Well, not literally, but in the broke-college-student sense of the phrase. If I shelled out $100 on best earbuds headphones, I would be eating noodles in a cup for the next month.

There were a few other complicating elements too, like the fact that I wanted the new ‘buds to do a better job blocking external sound, and I didn’t want them to fall out of my ears when I bent my head to one side to take a sip of coffee without sloshing it on my textbooks.

Where did that leave me? It left me with very high design and style demands and a budget that could barely lace up a pair of Chuck Taylors. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I would be able to do better than another factory model pair. But I started looking around online, and stumbled across the V-MODA “Bass Freq” best earbuds headphones. They caught my eye because they came in a half dozen colors. When I clicked around to read reviews and user comments, I experienced a buzzing sensation in my eardrums–was the return of quality iPod music about to happen?

Here’s what my research revealed.

1. The V-MODA Bass Freq model had won awards from CNET and MacWorld.
2. They apparently did a good job with noise cancellation, without batteries.
3. They came with rubber earbud cones in various sizes for adjustable fit.
4. The ‘buds were praised for their bass kick and crisp treble notes.
5. They were shipped in designer colors (red, orange, green, blue, black, silver, pink).
6. They fell inside my narrow price range.

I decided the give them a shot, and ordered a pair of the V-MODA best earbuds headphones. I opted for “tambarine orange”–not because I am a hippy, but because my black iPod has always wanted tiger stripes. About a week later, my package arrived from Amazon. After it sat on the couch for a week, I got around to opening it. Actually, I ripped it open in the elevator and was listening to Iron & Wine and Radiohead about two minutes later.

What I heard made me smile. As promised, the bass notes rocked and the middle and high notes came through with clarity. These best earbuds headphones sounded better than the Apple originals, and they also scored a notch higher in the style department.

As I write this article, I’ve owned by original pair of ‘buds for about 10 months, and they’re still in use. I’ve ordered additional pairs as gifts, and given this model the honorary title of “Best Earbuds Ever.”

You know, Best Ever for less than $30. When I graduate, I’ll see what else V-MODA has on the market.

Cell Phone Headsets Can Be a Necessity

The cell phone headset is not just a convenience and in some cases where the use of mobile phones without headsets is banned, they are a necessity. No matter that one is walking down the street or driving a car, the cell phone headset frees up hands and it is even possible to plug into a wireless phone-recording controller and capture conversations or interviews.

There are many different cell phone headset products available on the market that represents three main styles which are best earbuds headphones with in-line or integrated microphones, headsets that have boom microphones and units with retractable cords. The majority of them will work with any phone that has a standard 2.5mm headset jack and you can get one for around $20 to $30.

Earbuds, Booms and Retractables

The ultimate in stealthy cell phone headsets are the best earbuds headphones which have the mike resting on either the wire or the earpiece and very often it seems like the person is talking to him or herself as they are barely noticeable by others. The Fellowes Body Glove Earglove Flex is a cell phone headset that is a cross between an earbud and a boom headset and it may dangle from a short cord away from the ear loop that comfortably nestles over either ear.

There is also a nifty small microphone that comes out from underneath the ear and it also has a call-answer/end button along with a mute switch. Another similar product is the Logitech EasyFit earbud that comes with an EasyFit connector that is useful in holding the adapter that plugs into the cell phone and this cell phone headset has admirable sound quality and also has a choice of different size rubber FlexLoops that make for a snug fit. At just $15, this is a real bargain!

Many ear buds give one the comfort when on-the-go though some users may be worried about not being heard unless the microphone is near the mouth and to allay such fears the boom headsets provide the feeling that one is actually speaking into an object. Take for example the Etymotic EtyCom that make superior noise-canceling headphones and their cell phone headset was another quality product having an earpiece that fits inside the ear canal which blocks ambient noise and so is good for outdoor or noisy environments.

It has a very likable flexible boom as well as the replaceable filter and costs under $70 which may not be cheap, so one may want to test it before actually purchasing one. And, if you are tired of digging the cell phone headset from out of a briefcase, there is always the retractable headset that stores wire in a small case and it can be adjusted during a conversation.
